I live right at the heart of the Brecon Beacons. I love walking, and exploring the wonderful places and landscapes which surround my home. I am fortunate to live within sight of the tallest mountain in southern Britain, and within walking distance of beautiful woods, ferny valleys, hills and various archaeological sites.
I also love travelling further afield around the British Isles - but also far beyond.
I carry a camera with me almost every day, and have a vast archive of photos of the landscapes around me. The photos that I love most, though, are those which convey a bit of what I feel is the mystery and solitude of some of the places I visit. Many of the places I love returning to most have a feeling of 'unkemptness', and somewhere the elementary forces of nature feel as though they're striking back at man's work of organising and fencing in the landscape. I like the feeling of nature being in a state of rebellion, and striking back against man's pervasive attempts to control it.
I am also interested in the ways in which we use, inhabit, and enjoy the natural world; the ways that we shape our environment, and are shaped by it. To see all this at play there can be worse places to live than in the Brecon Beacons National Park!
